Before becoming a hypnobirthing instructor, I was working with homeless children in London, already knowing my heart was dedicated to supporting and transforming lives.
Little did I know how profoundly that passion would shape my own journey into motherhood.
In 2014, I became pregnant, dreaming of the most beautiful homebirth possible. But at 24 weeks, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes – a diagnosis that initially shattered my birth vision. Suddenly, I was labelled “high risk”, and my perfect candlelit homebirth seemed to slip away.
But I wasn’t ready to give up.
I refused to be defined by my diagnosis. With two incredible independent midwives and a transformative hypnobirthing course in London, I began to rebuild my confidence. I devoured every piece of information, worked closely with my diabetes team, and prepared meticulously.
My first birth didn’t go as planned. After hours of labouring at home, we transferred to hospital. An epidural, episiotomy, and forceps delivery left me physically and emotionally bruised. I was broken, devastated – processing a birth experience so far from my original vision.
For my second pregnancy, I doubled down. Tighter blood sugar control, intense hypnobirthing practice, visualisations, and unwavering determination became my toolkit.
Though my son arrived early at 36 weeks, requiring hospital birth, I roared him into the world – feeling like an absolute lioness!
What I Learned is that every birth is unique. Every woman deserves to feel powerful, supported, and heard.
My experiences taught me that:
Now, as a hypnobirthing instructor, I’m dedicated to helping expectant parents:
